Five years later\, the first event was held in the United States and has continued throughout the world as a sign of empowerment for women\, men and children. This event offers an opportunity for survivors of abuse to join with others of all races\, cultures\, background and experience to combine the strength of their voices to declare an end to violence. \nSince 1996\, Will County Take Back the Night has hosted an annual rally to raise awareness for sexual violence and to support survivors in their healing process. Take Back the Night is critical to Will County’s overall commitment to raising awareness about violence against women and the tragedies it creates. Each year\, the event includes a featured speaker\, entertainment\, a brief march\, and an information table with materials from organizations involved in helping victims of violence. \nWill County Take Back the Night also raises funds for local agencies which assist women and their families. DESCRIPTION:In June\, we mobilized millions of people to take to the streets and declare with one voice: America has no kings. Trump’s birthday parade was drowned out by protests in all 50 states and throughout the world. His attempt to turn June 14 into a coronation backfired\, and the story of the day was about the strength of a movement rising against his authoritarian power grabs. \nThe millions of people who turned out in June helped create one of the largest single days of protest in US history\, and their courage and commitment set an example for others to follow. Since then\, we’ve seen more and more political leaders and institutions choosing to resist the regime rather than play dead. \nBut we knew June 14 was just the start. Trump is doubling down on his authoritarian tactics. He is disappearing immigrants to sprawling concentration camps\, sending troops into our cities\, threatening to interfere in elections\, rigging maps to steal power from the voters\, and orchestrating a massive giveaway to his billionaire allies as families struggle. \nTrump is ramping up his attacks on our rights and democracy\, but we’re not backing down. DESCRIPTION:It’s time again for our annual period products drive! From October 11th through October 25th\, we will be collecting the following new\, unopened packages for distribution to various shelters\, pantries\, and other human services non-profits in Will County. \n\nMenstrual pads (all sizes)\nPanty liners (all sizes)\nTampons (all sizes)\nMenstrual Cups (all sizes)\nPeriod Underware (all sizes)\nHygiene Wipes\nPersonal heating/menstruation pain relief pads or patches\n\nWe will be placing collection boxes for these items at public libraries across Will County. Check back here and on our social media for participating libraries. \nYou can also help by hosting a collection at your work/school/church. At the end of the 2 week collection period you can contact us at admin@willcountynow.org to arrange for a pickup or drop-off. \nVolunteers are also needed to drop-off and pickup collection boxes from various locations. \n\nPast recipients of the products collected have included: \n\nGuardian Angel Community Services\nSouthwest Suburban Immigrant Project\nHead Start of Will County\nDaybreak Shelter in Joliet\nForte Academy in Joliet\nNorthern Illinois Food Bank\nRichton Park Township Commnity Pantry\n\nIf you have a suggestion of a non-profit that would be interested in being one of our product recipients\, please contact us at admin@willcountynow.org.

DESCRIPTION:Take Back the Night first appeared in Europe in 1976 in response to a series of sexual assaults and murders against women. Five years later\, the first event was held in the United States and has continued throughout the world as a sign of empowerment for women\, men and children. This event offers an opportunity for survivors of abuse to join with others of all races\, cultures\, background and experience to combine the strength of their voices to declare an end to violence.

We will host a workshop on the crucial 2026 Midterm elections\, featuring multi-generational political activists at the state and local level. We are partnering with the Dyson Wellness Center to build kits for NCC students to protect their mental and reproductive health. We are collecting food for our students and local food bank. Kim Villanueva\, our newly elected president of NOW\, will stop by. We will present our annual awards. We are also throwing in a bit of business with officer elections and action plan resolutions.
