Five years later\, the first event was held in the United States and has continued throughout the world as a sign of empowerment for women\, men and children. This event offers an opportunity for survivors of abuse to join with others of all races\, cultures\, background and experience to combine the strength of their voices to declare an end to violence. \nSince 1996\, Will County Take Back the Night has hosted an annual rally to raise awareness for sexual violence and to support survivors in their healing process. Take Back the Night is critical to Will County’s overall commitment to raising awareness about violence against women and the tragedies it creates. Each year\, the event includes a featured speaker\, entertainment\, a brief march\, and an information table with materials from organizations involved in helping victims of violence. \nWill County Take Back the Night also raises funds for local agencies which assist women and their families. Trump’s birthday parade was drowned out by protests in all 50 states and throughout the world. His attempt to turn June 14 into a coronation backfired\, and the story of the day was about the strength of a movement rising against his authoritarian power grabs. \nThe millions of people who turned out in June helped create one of the largest single days of protest in US history\, and their courage and commitment set an example for others to follow. Since then\, we’ve seen more and more political leaders and institutions choosing to resist the regime rather than play dead. \nBut we knew June 14 was just the start. Trump is doubling down on his authoritarian tactics. He is disappearing immigrants to sprawling concentration camps\, sending troops into our cities\, threatening to interfere in elections\, rigging maps to steal power from the voters\, and orchestrating a massive giveaway to his billionaire allies as families struggle. \nTrump is ramping up his attacks on our rights and democracy\, but we’re not backing down. From October 11th through October 25th\, we will be collecting the following new\, unopened packages for distribution to various shelters\, pantries\, and other human services non-profits in Will County. \n\nMenstrual pads (all sizes)\nPanty liners (all sizes)\nTampons (all sizes)\nMenstrual Cups (all sizes)\nPeriod Underware (all sizes)\nHygiene Wipes\nPersonal heating/menstruation pain relief pads or patches\n\nWe will be placing collection boxes for these items at public libraries across Will County. Check back here and on our social media for participating libraries. \nYou can also help by hosting a collection at your work/school/church. DESCRIPTION:A bus is travelling around the country collecting signatures on petitions to tell our Senators to vote ‘Yes’ on the SAVE Act. The SAVE Act is purported to be needed to prevent ‘illegals’ from voting\, but it’s true purpose to to disenfranchise millions of legitimate votes – women\, trans\, and non-binary persons in particular. \nWhile it is hightly unlikely our Senators Durbin and Duckworth would even consider voting ‘Yes’ on this bill\, we need to show up to show these outside agitators that they are not welcome in our community or anywhere in Illinois.

This session will discuss reclaiming personal narratives\, challenging societal stereotypes\, and celebrating the diversity within the disability community. Attendees will hear from individuals with lived experience\, gaining tools to empower themselves and others in shaping their own stories and identities with confidence and pride. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nAllaina Humphreys is a disability rights advocate\, mother of three\, and a quadriplegic of more than 30 years. She is the chair of Bolingbrook Pride\, vice chair of the Bolingbrook Arts Council\, and a member of the 2025 cohorts of Disability Lead and Illinois Women’s Leadership Training Academy. She conducts accessibility audits\, designs inclusive community projects\, and partners with elected officials to create policy change that champions inclusion for all. \n \n \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nGarrison Redd\, a Brooklyn native\, is a TEDx Speaker\, Team USA Para-powerlifter\, model\, dancer\, and a passionate advocate for disabled rights.
